Nuevo Citroen DS3 Racing: ¡Reservalo!
Saludos Tuners!La gente de Tuning Extremo, Pasión por las 4 ruedas.
Citroen DS3 Racing – anti retro Mini Cooper S rival!
The first ad I noticed once touching down at the Geneva airport was one for the Citroen DS3, which had the headline “anti-retro”. We all know that the DS3 is pitched as a rival to BMW’s Mini, and the ad is clearly a jibe in the direction of the bug-eyed car. I understand the DS3’s appeal for those who either don’t “get” the Mini’s retro looks or simply look at it as a fashion fad. With creative design typical of Citroen and a modern, classy cabin, we reckon that it will do very well in Europe.
At the Geneva show, Citroen Racing (Citroen’s STi/RalliArt) paraded the DS3 Racing that’s set to go on sale in the second half of 2010. Limited to 1,000 units, the DS3R comes with plenty of carbon trim – on the front bumper, lower body trim, wing extensions, door side mouldings and spoiler, to be exact. The grey showcar was nicely contrasted with orange on the roof, wing mirrors, grille and rims (18-inch, looks really wicked) and wore some funky decals. Orange and carbon are also repeated in the cabin, which has a high-quality feel to it.
Citroen took the 1.6 THP engine (as found in our Peugeot 308 Turbo) and boosted output to 200 bhp, while torque is up from 240 Nm to 275 Nm. The gains were achieved by “optimising powertrain components”, modifying the turbo, remapping the ECU and adding a sports exhaust system. With these figures, the DS3R will outpace a Mini Cooper S, but will it outpoint the Brit in the bends?
For starters, the standard front and rear tracks have been widened by 30 mm and the DS3R sits lower by 15 mm. Stiffer springs, retuned shock absorbers and “specific steering mapping” for a more precise helm have been added as well. To cope with the added grunt, Racing spec brakes have been installed – four-piston calipers up front and drilled discs for the back. Also, the switchable ESP system has been tuned for “extra vitality, sportiness and driving pleasure” – in other words, it’s less restrictive.
We’re bound to see more of the DS3 in the sports pages, as it will replace the C4 as Citroen’s WRC machine – the French brand is a five-time WRC champion and is defending both driver and constructor crowns with rally king Sebastien Loeb.
Citroen DS3 Racing limited to 1000 units
Here’s a hotter version of the Citroen DS3 that the French company will debut at the Geneva show in early March, limited to just 1,000 production units. The car is rather unimaginatively called the Citroen DS3 Racing and gets its 1.6 liter BMW-PSA Prince engine boosted up to 200 horsepower, up from the original 156hp unit installed in the stock DS3. Torque gets upped to 275Nm from 240Nm.
Citroen achieved the 200 horses with remapping the turbo and ECU control, “modified and optimized powertrain components” (oh such detail) and installed a special tail pipe and exhaust muffler. To cope with the extra power, brakes have been upgraded to 4-pot calipers at the front and all four wheels get new discs, including drilled discs for the rear.
The steering has also had some updates to be more “precise” and to suit the new larger tyros. The suspension gets stiffer springs, adapted front and rear shocks to handle the increased power, front and rear track gets widened by 30mm, and the car gets lowered by 15mm. Finally, the ESP programming has been updated to suit the new components.

New Citroen Nemo Multispace Announced in UK

Citroën's new Nemo Multispace has been announced in the UK. Taking cues from the bigger Berlingo Multispace, the Nemo Multispace offers a number of value propositions to customers who idealise space and extra cash in the pocket above all else.

Press Release
Citroën is introducing the compact, practical, versatile, environmentally-sensitive and, above all, attractively priced Nemo Multispace.
Whether it’s the 60+ mpg, or sub £10,000 price tag; its 119g/km CO2 emissions or its 2,500 litre load space, the new Nemo Multispace is a surefooted response by Citroën to recent market evolutions – where customers are increasingly looking for good value for money and fuel consumption in environmentally friendly and practical vehicles.
It is set to complement its bigger brother, the Berlingo Multispace – the car that introduced value MPVs to the UK 11 years ago. Today the Nemo Multispace can offer buyers even better value for money if they part exchange their pre-2000 registered car with Citroën’s £2000 Scrappage Incentive, meaning customers could drive away their new Nemo for just £7,995.
Offered in one trim level, the MPV version of the award-winning LCV model appeals to drivers looking for a simple vehicle with functionality and space for the whole family. However, functional the New Nemo Multisapce may be, yet it doesn’t lack creature comforts with remote central locking, electric windows, power steering, split rear seats, 4 airbags, trip computer and even ‘guide me home’ lights fitted as standard.
The Nemo Multispace’s distinctive appearance expresses a fun and functional personality with the smooth lines of its short front and vertical rear end. The wide windscreen, good glass area and large door mirrors allow impressive visibility from the inside and give the Nemo Multispace its signature Citroën MPV character.
With its chunky two-tone front and rear bumpers, sculpted wheel arches and black side rubbing strips the car has an ‘active’ appearance. The clear-lens headlamps and large chevrons communicate robustness and purpose.
Twin sliding doors in the rear provide an easy, wide access point for passengers, even in restricted locations. The large tailgate, with the Citroën chevrons prominently positioned in the centre, provides convenient, low-threshold loading and easy access to the car’s contents.
A car designed for being at home in the urban environment, the Nemo Multispace’s compact size and tight – sub 10 metre – turning circle offers drivers agile city mobility whilst the car is capable of providing smooth, long distance running and good fuel economy on the open road.
Measuring just 3.96m long, 2.02m wide and 1.72m tall (1.78m with optional roof bars), the Nemo Multispace manages to pack a surprising amount of internal room into its compact exterior with nearly 1.7m of cabin length offering generous elbow and headroom in both the front and rear. The smart design of the seats offer both comfort and support, whilst the rear seats, mounted 40mm higher than the front ones, give passengers a clear view ahead.
For those in need of more space than the Nemo Multispace’s already impressive 360-litre boot volume, it can be increased to either 890-litres with rear seats folded or a massive 2500-litres with the rear seats completely removed. For added convenience the removable luggage shelf can be stored behind the back of the rear bench.
Offering users flexible functionality, there are numerous convenient stowage compartments positioned throughout the cabin with 12 locations at the front to meet a range of requirements. The rugged PVC cabin floor covering underlines the car’s practical personality.
The Nemo Multispace puts drivers in a confident, convenient and comfortable seating position. With a high-mounted gear lever, situated close to the steering wheel, along with ergonomically located controls and driving aids, users will feel firmly in control.
Visibility is excellent and drivers can easily find a comfortable setting thanks to a height and reach adjustable steering wheel, height and lumbar adjustable seat and armrest. Making driving easier and more enjoyable, variable power assisted steering is fitted as standard and for convenience on the move, there are also front electric windows, as well as electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors. Keeping occupants cool on warm days, the Nemo Multispace can also be fitted with air-conditioning.
The Nemo Multispace is fitted with smart equipment for entertainment on the move. There is a high-quality audio system with four loudspeakers and an RDS stereo radio with MP3-compatible CD player for hours of music playback. A handy 12V socket in the front also allows users to power electronic devices.
Convenience items such as a trip computer and guide me home headlights are standard whilst Bluetooth® connectivity is available, enabling safe and easy communication on the move. On/Off controls are positioned in the centre of the dashboard with a microphone built into the central overhead light. The Nemo Multispace is also available with rear parking sensors and an over-speed warning feature that emits a visual and audible signal when the driver exceeds the set speed.
A typically Citroën touch, the Multispace features a removable torch mounted in the boot which also doubles as the boot light. When removed from its mounting the smart gadget provides a useful portable light source and is recharged when placed back in its cradle.
The Nemo Multispace can be powered by either a 1.4i 75hp petrol unit or an efficient 1.4HDi 70hp diesel available with standard or Sensodrive transmission. Citroën’s automated manual Sensodrive gearbox provides the two pedal convenience of a conventional automatic transmission with the fuel economy and low CO2 emissions of a manual gearbox.
Ensuring inexpensive mileage for families on a budget, the ultra frugal HDi unit boasts an optimised fuel economy of 62.8mpg on the combined cycle with a range of around 620 miles on its 9.9-gallon tank. Thanks to the engine’s low CO2 emissions of just 119g/km, the HDi model comes with Citroën’s Airdream label, a special eco-signature only bestowed on the Company’s most environmentally conscious vehicles. The low CO2 emissions also mean drivers can benefit from low road fund licence.
Safe and secure, the Nemo Multispace is equipped with ABS, driver and passenger airbags as well as front lateral airbags as standard. The imposing, robust design of the bonnet and front bumpers also offers strength and rigidity whilst rear fog lights and a high-level third brake light ensure optimum visibility to other road users.
For the secure fitment of child seats there are two Isofix anchor points on the two outer rear seats and an automatic door locking feature is installed that activates when the vehicle is in motion. Remote central locking and an immobiliser are also fitted as standard.
The Nemo Multispace is on sale now with prices starting at just £9,995.00 for the 1.4i petrol model up to £11,795.00 with the 1.4HDi engine and Sensodrive transmission, all models are insurance group 2E, with 20,000 mile service intervals.

Europe has had its own mini-craze over SUVs and, even if there's a recession on, European-market compact SUVs are still an attractive option. In these photos we see the production version of the DS3 with 5-doors. The DS3 will be on the market in 2010 with petrol, diesel and diesel hybrid versions.

In a few weeks Citroen will show in concept form the DS3, the first model of the newly revived DS range, at the Geneva Motor Show. Despite the Citroen DS3 concept already being revealed to the media, spy photos have just recently emerged. Usually, it's the other way around.

Available in two versions, the DS3 will come as a 5-door and as a sporty 2-door version that is said to target Mini. Following in 2010 the DS4 and DS5, which is based on the the 2008 Hypnos Concept, will be launched.

Coinciding with the new DS range is the complete rebranding of Citroen which includes a revised logo and re-modeled dealerships to reflect a more upscale position. As a result, the DS range in a more exclusive position will compliment the existing C2, C3 and C4 models and not replace them as previously reported.

Citroen Going Upscale - Rebirth of Classic Citroen DS line
Citroen will introduce the scheme on 4 February to celebrate the brand's 90th birthday. Citroen needs a jolt after suffering a sales decline of 7.2 per-cent last year. They sold 1.35 million units in 2008.
Citroen will unveil a plan to rebrand themselves as the next-best thing to being a premium brand. The plan includes bringing back the DS line, an update to the logo, and a new marketing scheme.

The company has been planning a reintroduction of the DS line since mid-2007. The DS was Citroen's flagship line from the 1950s through the 70s, and will now represent upper-tier vehicles. First up will be the Citroen DS3, set for delivery at the end of the year. “We will offer products within the Citroen brand that have added value and carry elements of the premium sector,” said styling director Jean-Pierre Ploue.

Also being freshened up is the chevron logo, which has not seen a change since 1985. A new marketing slogan, possibly "three years to impress the world," and global web site are also on the way. The plan was formed by an exec who is no longer with the company. His goal was to improve the company's image while reducing its focus on small cars.

A five-year schedule is also in place to overhaul the 3,300 dealership network. The look of the showrooms, stronger customer relations, and better maintenance and repairs are parts of the plan.
