Mitsubishi sells 100,000 i-MiEVs to a single buyer?

Yes, that’s true, and the buyer in question is PSA Peugeot Citroën. Mitsubishi has announced the signing of a “Final Cooperative Agreement” that will see the French giant purchase 100,000 units of the i-MiEV electric car. PSA will market the rebadged i-MiEV as the Peugeot iOn and Citroen C-Zero. Both French badged cars will go on sale in Europe by the end of this year, starting with their domestic market.

This sealed deal comes just after both parties failed to agree terms for a capital alliance in the style of Renault and Nissan. Mitsubishi Motors CEO Osamu Masuko and PSA chief Philippe Varin met at Geneva and jointly released a statement that a capital tie-up would not be realistic although both companies would continue to expand business ties.

Besides this latest deal, which would help Mitsubishi achieve better economies of scale for an expensive project, PSA also bases its Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser on the Japanese maker’s Outlander SUV.

Shanghai Clone Wars: Landwind X8 vs Mitsubishi Outlander

There are clones and clones. While some come pretty close such as Lifan Motors' effort to give birth to a five-door MINI Cooper, other like Jiangling Motors's Landwind X8 that made its debut at the Shanghai Show this week, is a dead ringer for Mitsubishi's Outlander. For those of you with a weak memory, China's Landwind became known for being the first Chinese automaker to enter the European market with the SUV that spectacularly failed a crash test carried out by the ADAC, Germany's largest auto club.

Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype teaser

The new Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype will be equipped with the latest technologies of the company, including the Idle Neutral Logic system that puts the car into neutral during vehicle standstill, improved performance and fuel economy from its newly developed 3.0L MIVEC V6 engine (220 hp and 204 Nm ), and a Super-All-Wheel-Control System that offers better handling and control.

Mitsubishi has released the first teaser images of the upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype, in which we can see the same design language found in the new Mitsubishi Lancer and the facelifted Colt (especially the front end). Other feature of the new Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype should include Mitsubishi's Sport Shift Transmission (SST) dual-clutch transmission and a Hill Start Assist function.

Press release:

The centerpiece of Mitsubishi Motors' stand at next week's New York Auto Show will be the Outlander GT Prototype. Building on the success of the current Outlander, this sporty compact CUV will make its World debut on April 9.

Dressed in a premium Diamond white hue, the Outlander GT Prototype showcases a host of new technologies, such as Idle Neutral Logic that automatically shifts the transmission into neutral during vehicle standstill, improved performance and fuel economy from its more powerful 3.0-liter SOHC MIVEC V6 engine, and a Super-All-Wheel-Control System offering superior handling and control. Additionally, there is a number of exciting design elements that help distinguish the Outlander GT Prototype, including Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's signature "Jet Fighter" grille.

Mitsubishi to Unveil Plug-In Hybrid Crossover in Tokyo

Mitsubishi Motors will launch a plug-in hybrid crossover at this year's Tokyo auto show in a vehicle that is slightly smaller than an Outlander and which is said to rival Nissan's Qashqai.

The hybrid development is part of Mitsubishi's plan to move its focus from large-engined SUVs to smaller, more efficient powerplants, Gayu Uesugi, head of product development, told headlineauto.

Mitsubishi makes Raider death official

This revelation goes right along with remarks made by CEO Osamu Masuko, who suggested that his company would refocus all its efforts on small, fuel efficient cars, hybrids and electric vehicles. In any case, neither Mitsubishi nor Dodge is going to miss the vehicle all that much since sales for all of last year totaled under 3,000 units. Rest in peace, Raider.

We can now officially put a fork in the short-lived Mitsubishi Raider pickup. It's done. Mitsubishi and Chrysler, the company that actually assembles the Raider pickup that's little more than a restyled Dodge Dakota, have jointly admitted that the midsize truck's contract will not be renewed. Mitsubishi is not currently planning on offering a new vehicle to fill the departed truck's spot in the lineup.

¡Kit Tuning para Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X!

Hola Tuners!

Saludos Tuners!
